The Mountaineers represent West Virginia University, and are a formidable team at the NCAA Division I level. They are a part of the Big 12 Conference. They have claimed 15 conference titles, with the last time being 2011. The 2013 season resulted in the Mountaineers' first losing campaign since 2001. The team was considered a contender for bowl participating until their last three games that ended their 2013 season with a 4-8 final record.
